Maani Featured on Heech Magoo Podcast: Healing, Channeling, Spiritual Awakening & Consciousness

Lotus Retreat Center | News & Features

We’re excited to share that Maani, co-founder of Lotus Retreat Center, was recently a featured guest on Heech Magoo, a Persian-language podcast hosted by Ali that explores consciousness, spirituality, and the deeper questions of human existence.

It was a profound and wide-ranging conversation that explored some of the deeper questions surrounding healing, spirituality, intuition, channeling, and consciousness. Ali is a thoughtful host who asks with genuine curiosity, and that created the space for Maani to speak openly about things that don’t always find their way into shorter conversations.

If you’ve been part of the Lotus Retreat Center community for a while, much of what Maani shares will feel familiar, but hearing it in this context, in response to Ali’s questions, may offer a different angle on ideas you’ve already been sitting with. And if you’re new here, this conversation is as good a place as any to begin.

“Healing is ultimately a change in our relationship with ourselves and with the beliefs we carry about who we are and what is possible.”

— Maani

What the Conversation Covers

The episode runs deep and covers a lot of ground. Here’s a sense of what Ali and Maani explored together.

How Maani’s own path began. Maani grew up surrounded by Persian poetry, Sufi mysticism, and the works of the great masters, Rumi, Hafez, Shams, and Abu Said Abulkheir. That early immersion shaped something in him quietly, long before he understood what it was. After immigrating to the United States and spending years building an ordinary life, a single event, the death of his father, brought everything to a stop. A question arrived that he couldn’t set aside, and that question became the beginning of the real journey. He speaks about this opening with a directness and lack of drama that makes it land harder, not softer.

What healing actually means. Not the word, but the reality behind it. Maani describes healing as a change in relationship, specifically, a person’s relationship with themselves and with their own beliefs about what they deserve. He’s honest about what genuinely blocks healing, and why the most sophisticated energy work in the world cannot fully take root in someone who, in the deeper layers of their being, doesn’t believe they are worthy of being well.

“Even the most powerful healing methods can only go so far if a person does not yet believe they are worthy of being healed.”

— Maani

The mind’s role in creating experience. How much of what we suffer is constructed by our own mental patterns? More than most of us are comfortable admitting, in Maani’s view. He talks about this not as blame but as invitation, because if the mind creates the problem, the mind (working differently, from a different level) can also be part of the resolution.

Channeling, intuition, and discernment. Ali asked about how to distinguish genuine intuitive reception from the noise of the ordinary thinking mind, and about the risks of connecting with unverified sources. Maani’s answers here are some of the most practically useful in the episode. His radio analogy for how channeling actually works is clear, grounded, and strips away a lot of the fear that can surround this topic, particularly in Persian and Middle Eastern cultural contexts where the subject carries significant baggage.

A significant experience in Egypt. Maani describes something that happened during a visit to the ancient site of Saqqara, near one of the oldest pyramids in Egypt and a location with documented Persian connections from the Achaemenid era. This story offers a fascinating perspective on how inner transformation and meaningful life experiences can sometimes intersect in unexpected ways.

Lightwork and the current moment. What does it mean to be a lightworker, in concrete terms? What is Maani and Niloufar’s work in the world actually oriented toward? And why does this particular moment in history feel significant to those working in this space? Ali gave Maani the room to answer these questions honestly, and he did.

Why so few men walk this path, and why it matters. This part of the conversation surprised us with how rich it became. Maani speaks about the balance of feminine and masculine energies with real nuance, and about what’s actually lost, for individuals and for communities, when one half of the human population is mostly absent from spaces of genuine inner work.

Why This Conversation Matters to Us

At Lotus Retreat Center, we don’t take these kinds of conversations lightly. When Maani speaks publicly, in whatever format, it’s an extension of the same work we do here: creating space for honest inquiry, for questions that don’t have easy answers, and for the kind of engagement with inner life that actually changes something.

Heech Magoo gave that space generously. Ali’s questions were real questions, asked with curiosity and without an agenda. The result is a conversation that we think represents something of what Lotus Retreat Center stands for, and we’re grateful it’s now available for a wider audience.

Throughout the conversation, Ali asked thoughtful questions that allowed us to explore these topics with depth and nuance. While this article highlights a few of the themes we covered, the full discussion includes many personal stories, examples, and insights that are best experienced in the complete interview.

The full conversation is available now on the Heech Magoo podcast. We encourage you to watch it in full; some of what Maani shares doesn’t translate well into a summary, and it’s worth hearing in his own words.
